Celtic-Rock Band Äpsylon Sponsors The National Domestic Violence Hotline and loveisrespect, National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline
Los Angeles, CA: In conjunction with the April 1, 2010 release of their debut album “Dreaming Of Yesterday,” Celtic-rock band Äpsylon is teaming up with the National Domestic Violence Hotline (www.ndvh.org) and loveisrespect, National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline (www.loveisrespect.org) to raise awareness about the many forms of relationship abuse. The band will also donate ten percent from each of their album sales to these organizations to promote respectful, safe relationships.

Founded in 2006 by multi-instrumentalist Tedy Mädl, Äpsylon began as a studio project based on songs Mädl had written the year before. Utilizing guitar, cello, flute, harp, drums, and vocals, Äpsylon has crafted a mesmerizing and unique sound that demands the listener’s full attention.

“It is a great opportunity for our organization to work with Äpsylon and employ music to raise awareness about domestic violence,” said Sheryl Cates, CEO of the National Domestic Violence Hotline and loveisrespect, National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline.

On “Dreaming Of Yesterday,” the band offers eight tracks that showcase the talents of each musician. Vocalist Marissa Mendenhall possesses a strong voice, reminiscent at times of Melissa Etheridge. Meanwhile, the music recalls the best of vintage British folk-rock, particularly Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, and Renaissance.

But “Dreaming of Yesterday” is no mere nostalgia trip. Key track “Lena” tells a harrowing tale of domestic abuse against the title character and ends with a plea to end the stigma and shame that accompanies domestic violence.

Blending elements of classical, Celtic folk, and rock music, Äpsylon’s album “Dreaming Of Yesterday” becomes a musical journey filled with an acoustic blend of inviting melodies, intricate rhythms, and expressive lyrics available now on the band’s web site at www.apsylon.com.
